Lovin' That BBQ!

Hopefully everyone has had a chance to eat at Lucilles Smokehouse Bar-B-Que, if not, your definitely missing out! We have all had the opportunity to dine at this great southern smokehouse several times throughout the past couple years. Recently, Rob went with his entire family to celebrate his mom's birthday and the only thing he had to say was, "Lucille's never lets me down". In our opinion, it is one of the best barbecue restaurant chains for family and friends to visit and enjoy some good ole southern hospitality.

If you have never been there, make sure you arrive a little bit earlier than planned because there is always a guaranteed wait. It is a very popular place and if you can be patient, we promise you wont be disappointed. The pricing of the meals may be a little on the steep side; however, the amount of food given to you is worth every penny!

Top 3 Favorite Appetizers:
  • BBQ Rib Tip Appetizer
  • Deep Fried Shrimp
  • Smoked Tri Tip or Chicken Quesadilla

Top 5 Favorite BBQ Entrees:
  • BBQ Tri Tip
  • Baby Back Ribs
  • Lucille's Original Pulled Pork Sandwich
  • Jambalaya "Me-Oh-My-A"

Those Finger Licking Wings

You often see the commercials on television and hear the great deals through word of mouth.  I am talking about Buffalo Wild Wings, with a vast array of choices and happy hour specials it becomes one of the ideal places to stop and resolve your appetite.

Wing Tuesdays offers 55 cent wings
Boneless Thursdays 65 cents for boneless wings
Usually half off wings during happy hour

They offer 16 sauces and 4 seasons with the ability to combine up to 4 of them per order.  Some pictured below.  Personal favorites include the Chipotle dry rub and Asian Zing sauce.

The boneless wings start at $7.59 for 8 and go all the way up to $35.99 for 50.  The traditional wings start at $5.49 for 6 and up to $34.99 for 50.  So now that you know that the prices and some of the combinations lets talk about the food.

Honestly the food there is not always the best, it some times arrives at your table 40 minutes after you ordered it.  Often you will see the waiters or waitresses bring the wrong food to the wrong table and you yourself will often get something that you did not order.  All of these things I have experienced on more than one occasion, but what keeps me going back?

When you do finally get your order within a decent amount of time, hot and fresh its usually all you want out of a wing.  But it is not always the food that keeps me going back, its the people there that you will find make the experience better.  You will often be able to find your favorite sports team on one of the many large projection screens and other passionate fans cheering for them or routing against them.  Beer, wings, good people, decent service.  Is there anything else you really need?

Never Ending Food... for $8.95

I'm sure all of you have been to, if not, heard of the delicious restaurant called Olive Garden.
Olive Garden is an elegant restaurant that serves gourmet Italian food. Today, we want to tell you about the Never Ending Pasta Bowl for only $8.95.

http://www.neverendingpastabowl.com/

There are endless possibilities. You have a choice of seven different types of pastas, and 6 different choices of sauces.

The 7 pastas are:

  • Spaghetti (long, thin, cylindrical pasta)
  • Linguine (long, a bit thicker than Spaghetti pasta)
  • Angel Hair (long, even thinner than Spaghetti)
  • Whole Wheat Linguine (a healthier choice of linguine)
  • Fettuccine (a long, thick, flat pasta)
  • Orecchiette  (small pasta shaped almost into a bowl)
  • Penne (short tube like pasta)

The 6 Sauces are:
  • Pizzaiola Sauce (Red Sauce, similar to a pizza sauce)
  • Alfredo (classic thick white cream sauce)
  • Marinara (classic red sauce)
  • Roasted Mushroom Parmesan (white creamy sauce cooked with mushrooms)
  • Meat Sauce (marinara sauce with meat)
  • Five Cheese Marinara  (marinara sauce smothered with 5 different cheese)
Additional Unlimited Toppings for only $2.95 extra
  • Italian Sausage
  • Meatballs
  • Roasted Chicken
Not only do you have endless possibilities with different pastas, sauces, and toppings, you can also mix sauces together.

We personally enjoy mixing the Marinara sauce with the Alfredo sauce. By mixing the two, you get a creamy pinkish sauce that has the cream of the white sauce with the kick of the red sauce. Some restaurants call this sauce Alamara sauce.

If your taste buds are not yet satisfied. or you think this might not be enough food, along with the endless pasta, you get unlimited soup, salad, and bread sticks.

The bread sticks are soft bread with butter lightly spread on top, with fresh herds.
The salad is fresh lettuce tossed in Italian dressing with, olives, red onions, peppers, tomatoes, croutons, and Parmesan cheese.

There are  4 different types of soups to choose from:
  • Chicken &Gnocchi (chicken and dumpling soup in a white cream soup base)
  • Pasta E Fagioli (beans, tomatoes, and meat in a pasta sauce soup)
  • Minestrone (vegetables, tomatoes, as a vegetarian style soup)
  • Zuppa Toscana (spicy sausage with potatoes in a cream soup base)
As you can see, there are actually ENDLESS possibilities that you can try. There are so many possibilities, you might have to come back several times just to try.

But, to make things easier, here are the 5 most popular endless Pasta bowl choices:
  1. Fettuccine Alfredo
  2. Orecchiette with the Roasted Mushroom Parmesan Sauce
  3. Whole Wheat Linguine with the Roasted Mushroom Parmesan Sauce
  4. Angel Hair Pasta with the Roasted Mushroom Parmesan Sauce
  5. Spaghetti with the Pizzaiola Sauce
Although the five most popular are very good choice, we still recommend trying the Alamara sauce with any choice of pasta. The only reason it is not one of the most popular is because not many people know about it.

We hope this was helpful, and now you have many different options for just $8.95

Red Robin...Yummm!

Red Robin is a restaurant known for its amazing burgers and bottomless fries. We have made a list of the top 5 BEST and WORST menu items in order to help people make the right decision on what to get the next time they visit the birdhouse.

Top 5 Best Entrees!

1) Whiskey River BBQ Burger: This burger is amazing! It does not matter what kind of mood you are in because we can guarantee it will still hit the spot each and every time. It comes with a red robin seasoned burger patty, lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, onion straws, and the signature whiskey river bbq sauce.

2) Whiskey River BBQ Chicken Wrap: This is by far the most popular item at Red Robin. Every time we go with our friends and family, someone will always order it. It contains grilled chicken, shredded lettuce, ranch, whiskey river bbq sauce, tortilla strips, shredded cheese and its all wrapped in a spinach tortilla. Do not be fooled by the spinach tortilla, you cant even taste a difference! The only downfall is it's over 1000 calories...sorry weight watchers :(

3) Crispy Chicken Tender Salad: Another extremely popular item at Red Robin. We all got a chance to try this salad and each one of us absolutely loved it. The salad itself contains a spring salad mix, tomatoes, hard boiled egg, bacon bits, shredded cheddar cheese and the crispy chicken. It is really good!

4) Artichoke Spinach Dip: Hands down one of the best spinach dips in the world! We don't know how Red Robin does it but this creamy blend of artichoke and spinach layered with parmesan cheese and diced red onion makes it taste delightful. Highly recommend it as a great appetizer.

5)Arctic Cod Fish & Chips: The Fish & Chips are always a great choice, especially for all of you fish lovers out there. One of the few fish items on the menu but it really is the only item they need. If your not feeling in the mood for anything else then we definitely recommend the arctic cod. And if you would like to take our advice, have your server put them on a plate instead of the red basket because they tend to get soggy and stick to the paper.

Top 5 Worst Entrees!

1) Creamy Mac N Cheese: Despite the fact that a lot of people love mac n cheese, Red Robin has one of the worst any of us have ever tasted. It's way too cheesy and the noodles they use are not very good. The calories in this entree are extremely high and that's because of the 4 cheese sauce. Overall, we would not recommend this dish to anybody.

2) Prime Rib Dip: The prime rib dip sandwich at Red Robin is a 50/50. You will either love it or hate it. Personally, we feel that the prime rip is all fat. Its chewy and sometimes dry. The roll that it is served on always tends to be hard and it becomes more of a challenge to eat.

3) Reds Rice Bowl: As much as we love teriyaki chicken with white rice, Red Robin's idea of this entree is not very good. It was one of the lowest selling items on the menu and that is why it is no longer on the menu at some locations throughout Orange County. The entree came with mixed vegetables, mandarin oranges, wantons, grilled chicken, and the Asian style dressing which was not a very good substitute with the teriyaki sauce.

4) The Boca Burger: This burger is by far the worst looking item on the menu. A friend of ours had ordered it because he wanted to try it and not knowing what it was, we all looked at it with disgust. It looks like a raw, lifeless patty that does not look cooked at all. Because it is offered for most people who are vegetarian, that's why it is not the worst item.

5) The Bleu Ribbon Burger: It was difficult to pick a fifth worst item from Red Robin because most of the food they serve is delicious. The only reason why it made the list is because none of us like bleu cheese. The combo of blue cheese with steak sauce and tomatoes on an onion bun does not sound good at all. However, for those of you who do like blue cheese, this just might be the burger for you.

We hope that it helps everyone out with their decisions in the future and if you have any feedback or liked our selection then please let us know! We appreciate the criticism as much as we like to give it.
